Childcare workers - yours views are needed for a CWDC Skills and Training web based survey.
CWDC is launching an online survey to gather the views and feelings of the children's workforce on training and development in order to inform our Sector Skills Agreement (SSA).
SSAs are designed to improve the delivery of services through developing the skills of the workforce. They map out exactly what current and future skills are needed by employers and how these skills and qualifications will be developed. SSAs will put employers, workers and people who use services at the forefront of development, giving them real influence over the future provision of workforce skills.
The CWDC's SSA, 'the big deal', is key to the future development of the children and young people's workforce, specifically for those working in children and young people's social care, early years childcare and the advisory and education support services.
This is an ideal opportunity for employers and workers to have their say on what skills the workforce needs and what actions need to be put in place to ensure that these needs are met. The results will allow us to include the sector's own views into any future plans and strategies.
We are seeking your help in ensuring that as many people as possible have the opportunity to contribute to the SSA and to share their views. Please would you promote this brief online survey by circulating this message and the attached web link amongst your colleagues and networks.
The survey will be live until Friday 9th February. I hope you can help us achieve a large number of respondents. The link to the survey is http://www.cwdcouncil.org.uk/projects/sectorskillsagreement.htm

Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC)
The Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) aims to improve the lives of children and young people. It will do this by ensuring that the people working with children have the best possible training, qualifications, support and advice. It will also help children and young people's organisations and services to work together so that the child is at the centre of all services.
CWDC works in the interests of a range of sectors covering about 500,000 workers, including early years and childcare, education welfare and social care for children and young people. CWDC is one of five bodies forming the UK Skills For Care and Development Sector Skills Council and coordinates the Children's Workforce Network. www.cwdcouncil.org.uk <<http://www.cwdcouncil.org.uk/>>

Ofsted find that Childminders provide the best quality of care
According to their 2005/2006 Annual Report, Ofsted found that childminders provided the best quality of care. They stated that 'Good-quality childcare is seen most often in childminding and least often in out of school provision'. They found that between April 2005 and June 2006, 64% of childminders were judged to provide a good or above standard of care compared with 44% of out of school provision. Of the childminders inspected only 2% were deemed to be inadequate, while 9% of out of school providers were found to be inadequate.
